The story behind…

The composition of Kezzyn’s remastered artwork, Jesus the Big Brother draws inspiration from the Strugatsky brothers’ 1964 novel; translated, ‘Hard to be a God’. The novel has since been transferred to the silver screen by cult director Aleksei German, a posthumous masterpiece that was in the works for nearly 8 years. Kezzyn has interpreted this story in his own visual dialogue where he deliberately mixes figures and alters the functions of the creator, the martyr and the savior. Jesus is central to the composition; however, his power has completely been exerted. He is directed by characters ignored by others. Exhausted in desperation, he does not know how to stop it all. He is overcome, and now no one knows; where was the beginning and what will the future hold?
